Georgians continue to disapprove of the “Affordable Care Act,” also known as “Obamacare,” by a large margin. Sixty-one percent of voters in our InsiderAdvantage / GaPundit poll indicate that they disapprove of the law, while only 28 percent said they approve.
Oddly, Democrats in Georgia disapprove of the Obamacare at a slightly higher percentage than do Republicans and independent voters. But across the board, the law has little support in the state.
Only 23% of Democrats responding in the unusually large sample of surveyed respondents said they approve of the ACA. Twenty-eight percent of Republicans and 32% of independents said they approve of the health law, with the rest of respondents saying they are undecided.
When it comes to expanding Medicaid in Georgia, a part of the ACA’s requirements, Georgians are also not enthusiastic. Thirty-five percent of voters favor expanding benefits to more people, but nearly 50% oppose such a move. And ironically, only 31% of Democrats who responded to the poll favor an expansion of Medicaid as required by the law.
Another recently published media poll provided results that were wholly different than ours. That poll showed that most Georgians favor expansion of Medicaid. InsiderAdvantage CEO Matt Towery notes, “The polls on issues often vary, based on the wording of the surveys and their weighting.”
