ATLANTA — State officials and utilities worked Wednesday to stay ahead of the challenges of Winter Storm Pax.
Georgia Power reported at midday that there were more than 133,000 outages concentrated in the eastern, coastal and central parts of the state. More than 220,000 customers had lost power, mostly before 6 a.m. By 3 p.m. company crews and those supporting them from utilities in other states had restored power to 88,000 customers. It had more than 5,000 people on the job during the day.
