Kasim Reed and APS Square Off Over Beltline Debt
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, certainly no stranger to facing off with local politicians, is now embroiled in an argument with Atlanta Public Schools and its (outgoing) Chief Erroll Davis over $19 million in debt currently owed by the city. Neither side wants to back down, and neither seems to truly be in the wrong, (APS needs the money, Reed says the city doesn’t have it right now because the repayment plan made the ‘assumption that real estate prices would always rise’ before 2008 when clearly, they didn’t).
