   ATLANTA– Phil Kent, an Atlanta media/communications consultant, panelist on Fox5Atlanta WAGA-TV’s “The Georgia Gang” and former editorial page editor of  The Augusta Chronicle, has been named the new CEO of InsiderAdvantage/Internet News. Matt Towery, co-founder and CEO of the companies since 2000 remains chairman of the executive committee for both companies.

“This is something we have had in the works for quite some time and I am thrilled that a journalist and businessman of Phil’s caliber assumes day-to-day control of our combined company,” Towery said. Insideradvantage/Internet News publishes the statewide political/news magazine James, as well as Southern Political Report magazine. The firm is one of the state’s most established sources of opinion research and provides daily political news through its online sites InsiderAdvantageGeorgia.com and SouthernPoliticalReport.com.

“Phil also becomes publisher of all InsiderAdvantage/Internet News publications. He has new and innovative ideas that will enhance our longtime commitment to the world of niche online and print publications,” Towery said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to take these companies to a new and higher level,” Kent said, “and pleased that my longtime friend Matt Towery will continue to provide editorial input and content for the companies, as well as continue with his nationally syndicated column.”

“In addition, the combined companies provide consulting services to corporations, trade associations, and non-profit organizations,” Towery said. “Phil is a highly successful consultant in those arenas and will remain so through his own firm founded in 2003. But he now will also oversee InsiderAdvantage/Internet News consulting efforts.” Towery will continue to consult for select clients of the combined companies while he chairing the governmental affairs practice of the law firm Hall, Booth, Smith, PC. Towery, currently involved as the lead attorney for the creation of a civil rights tour of Atlanta, continues as Fox5’s political analyst and Kent continues his “Georgia Gang” punditry.

InsiderAdvantage/Internet News has a longtime involvement as public pollsters for media organizations including: Politico, Newsmax, WXIA-TV, WSB-TV, and currently Fox5 Atlanta, as well as numerous daily newspapers. Kent is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism, served on active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon and is a former president of the Atlanta-based Southeastern Legal Foundation.
