InsiderAdvantage CEO Phil Kent, in a taping of the upcoming March 8th edition of the Georgia Gang, revealed that a “unholy alliance” between some GOP proponents of the gas tax hike and house Democrats took place this week.  Apparently the deal went against the wishes of top Republican house leadership.  According to Kent, the Senate was taken completely by surprise.

The deal struck, which prompted most Democrats in the House to vote for the tax increase, was for the state DOT to agree to minority set-asides for future transportation contracts.  Reportedly, the state DOT even agreed to a “disparity study” to facilitate what Kent termed “minority set-aside quotas”.

The Georgia Gang airs this Sunday at 8:30am and again at 11:30pm on Fox 5 Atlanta.
