Rep. Jay Roberts could be named the Georgia Department of Transportation’s planning director, according to Capitol rumors reported by several media outlets including the AJC.
Roberts, R-Ocilla, successfully shepherded the transportation spending bill through the Legislature. The legislation that will raise around $900 million a year in new revenues for the DOT awaits Gov. Nathan Deal’s signature.
The planning director’s post was left vacant during the legislative session when Russell McMurry took over as head of the DOT.
Deal told the AJC he wouldn’t disclose whom he will appoint to the planning director’s post.
