State House GOP Speaker David Ralston, an attorney facing charges that he violated State Bar rules regarding client payments, made a shrewd move by hiring Georgia’s most prominent Democrat trial lawyer– former Gov. Roy Barnes– to defend him and to seek a possible settlement. It is smart because the Supreme Court-appointed “special master” in the case is Mark Dehler, a Democrat married to former Secretary of State Cathy Cox. Dehler will ultimately make a recommendation to the high court, which decides on any punishment. Atlanta’s newest pro sports team
Rumors continue to swirl around Atlanta potentially getting a new professional hockey team in the near future, but the cities newest franchise plays on the hardwood in Gwinnett County. The Atlanta Vibe are one of seven teams in the inaugural season of the Pro Volleyball Federation, which includes teams from Columbus, Ohio, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Omaha, Orlando, San Diego and Las Vegas.
