It’s shocking to learn that former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms never became a board member of the Atlanta Regional Commission because she never attended a single ARC board meeting during her tenure. Beyond missing the board meetings, the Democrat also refused to join ARC’s regional leadership visits to other metropolitan areas to examine city planning and technical infrastructure best practices. This contrasts sharply with her successor, Mayor Andre Dickens. He engaged with the bipartisan commission and later became ARC board chairman, emphasizing a desire for closer regional connectivity.
