Who better than a respected former U.S. senator to teach college students about politics, public policy and the law? That’s why the University of Georgia has established the Saxby Chambliss Leadership Forum, designed to “provide a forum through which to share his insights and expertise on topics ranging from national security to foreign policy.” The UGA undergrad and law school alum retired from the Senate at the beginning of this year after spending 20 years in Congress. The Republican from Moultrie will be a Sanders Political Leadership Scholar at the law school (named for former Gov. Carl Sanders) and will teach a law and political leadership course. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
