Fiscal year 2016 first-half profits for the Georgia Lottery Corp. reached their highest since inception in 1993. Fiscal year 2016 2nd-quarter profits are the largest second-quarter profits and the second largest transfer to education in a single quarter. All this means that 2nd-quarter profits transferred to the state treasury’s Lottery for Education Account totals $262.6 million, surpassing last year’s 2nd-quarter transfer by more than $21.6 million. Congressmen dodge antisemitism vote
This week the U.S. House passed a resolution condemning antisemitism in the U.S., which has seen an uptick as tensions have risen after war broke out between Israel and Hamas. The final tally was 311 in favor, 14 opposed, and 92 voting ‘present,’ including Democratic Reps. Hank Johnson of Lithonia, Lucy McBath of Marietta and Nikema Williams of Atlanta.
