State Rep. Allen Peake’s H.B. 722, which would allow for small amounts of medical marijuana to be grown by state-licensed cultivators in the state as well as allowing for more Georgians to use medical cannabis if they have certain specific diagnoses, is off to a fast start after one day of the 2016 session. Already 90 legislators have signed the bill, a huge total for a bill that was expected to face quite a fight during the session. Trump rally targets base & low propensity voters
President Donald Trump is in Dalton on Friday and his rally will certainly be a newsworthy event attended by a faithful base. And that’s the point. This is a base mid-term election (for both parties) and, as proven in the past, Trump can motivate not only the “MAGA GOP” but low propensity GOP and independent voters who otherwise might stay at home. Trump’s presence also seeks to boost GOP turnout for gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Collins. The rally will obviously generate publicity for Republicans and their policies but also Democrat attacks.
