The controversial HB 757, the ‘Religious Liberty’ bill, is currently sitting on Governor Deal’s desk awaiting either his signature or veto. Some pretty major business names are in his ear, asking for the latter. Disney has threatened to move production of its blockbuster Marvel and Star Wars movies out of the state, and the NFL has likewise said it may deny the city the Super Bowl should the bill become law. Congressmen dodge antisemitism vote
This week the U.S. House passed a resolution condemning antisemitism in the U.S., which has seen an uptick as tensions have risen after war broke out between Israel and Hamas. The final tally was 311 in favor, 14 opposed, and 92 voting ‘present,’ including Democratic Reps. Hank Johnson of Lithonia, Lucy McBath of Marietta and Nikema Williams of Atlanta.
