With the final day of the Georgia General Assembly looming, lawmakers gave their okay to a record $23.7 billion state budget Tuesday.
The new budget, which takes effect July 1, includes raises for the state’s teachers and state employees and calls for hiring hundreds of new employees. The budget also adds 3 percent raises for school bus drivers and lunchroom workers, and a 6 percent increase for state law enforcement officers.
