As North Carolina continues to come under fire for passing a bill that limits how local governments can pass rules designed to protect LGBT citizens, the Atlanta City Council is moving in on one lucrative event that might consider leaving. The NBA All-Star Game, slated for February of 2017 in Charlotte, may consider moving if North Carolina moves ahead with its controversial legislation. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
