Only half of a voter-approved $40 million will be available to Cobb County for purchasing public park land, after the rest of the money was redirected into stadium bonds for Suntrust Park. The money, which was raised in 2008 as part of a park bond, was approved by voters, unlike the nearly $400 in taxpayer dollars used in the stadium deal. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
