Local businesses around Edgewood Avenue have been complaining about large block parties taking place on and around the street on weekend nights, and following some harsh comments from Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall they’re stepping up their message. Hall accused many of the bars, including Joystick Gamebar, of not taking action to prevent the gatherings, which include illegal drinking and drug use out on the streets by unsupervised crowds. Not the case says Joystick, who say they have been trying to get Hall’s help with the situation for months. A messy situation is getting messier, and Hall’s relationship with much of the local community he represents is SINKING…
Congressmen dodge antisemitism vote
This week the U.S. House passed a resolution condemning antisemitism in the U.S., which has seen an uptick as tensions have risen after war broke out between Israel and Hamas. The final tally was 311 in favor, 14 opposed, and 92 voting ‘present,’ including Democratic Reps. Hank Johnson of Lithonia, Lucy McBath of Marietta and Nikema Williams of Atlanta. Democrats in opposition (or sitting out the vote) said voicing support for the Jewish people was just an attempt to be divisive. Those reps. in opposition of antisemitism are SINKING…
