It’s a tough job for any community– especially a big city– to maintain good appearances as measured by such things as the removal or litter and graffiti, illegal signs, abandoned vehicles, scrap tires and deteriorating outside storage. But Georgia’s capital city is making great strides as indicated by the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission receiving the President’s Circle Award at the Keep America Beautiful National Conference in Washington D.C. The commission, an agency of Atlanta’s Public Works Department, was commended for strides in combating littering, improving recycling and overall beautification efforts. Kemp, Jones urge income tax cuts
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was joined this week by Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington, and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones in calling for an acceleration of the state’s scheduled income tax cuts. Last year’s HB 1437 set in motion a reduction of the state’s income tax rate from 5.75% to 4.99%, to be rolled out over several years.
