The Port of Savannah is already reaping the benefits of the widening of the Panama Canal, and in a major way.  In October the port announced moving a record 410,000 20-foot equivalent container units, growth of 32% from September.  All the more reason to continue efforts to deepen the channel to allow for even more large cargo ships to make their way into the nation’s fourth busiest container port.  For the port and the Georgia Ports Authority that governs it the ship is RISING…
