The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) has repealed the toll limits for the I-85 “hot lanes” in DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties, plus all other toll lanes in Georgia including the soon to be completed northwest corridor toll lanes. Starting Monday morning, it will start costing commuters $16 to drive the entire length of the lanes during peak rush hour times. The minimum toll is also being raised from one cent per mile to ten cents per mile. The agency says by raising the tolls, it better ensures that people who want to pay to drive in the lanes can keep moving at at least 45 MPH, but some skeptics are calling it a blatant (and massive) cost hike.  From our perspective, a sudden 1000% minimum toll increase has SRTA DRIFTING…
