The Amazon HQ2-to-Atlanta saga ended with a whimper this week as the tech giant announced it would be constructing its new headquarters in two locations – New York and Northern Virginia. Difficult news for Georgia’s top-rate economic development team, who spent months wooing the company. In the end it looks like they didn’t give Atlanta (or several other Southern candidates) much of a fair shake, but were seeing what tax breaks they could shake free before moving on with plan A. Senate Republicans nominate new president pro tem
A follow up to yesterday’s Floating Boat – Georgia Senate Republicans this week also nominated state Sen. Larry Walker III, R-Perry, as president pro tem. That nomination won’t become a full election until the General Assembly convenes in January, at which point Walker will succeed state Sen. John F. Kennedy Jr., R-Macon, who is running for lt. governor. RISING…
