Occasionally we like to recognize worthy Peach State charitable organizations. This time it is Camp Kudzu. The organization’s Atlanta-based board, staff and volunteers support over 840 children and teens with type 1 diabetes (along with their families) by providing camping experiences and educational opportunities at various camps in Georgia. In fact, the recent Atlanta benefit luncheon raised over $230,000. Until there is a cure, Camp Kudzu will continue to educate, empower and inspire Georgia children living with type 1, so its boat is definitely RISING…
Taxpayers nervous about two Fulton Commission races
Georgia’s largest county– Fulton– has Democrat Mo Ivory running for County Commission chair. This year, she was the sole commissioner to vote for a tax hike. Now she has new spending plans that could cause property taxes to soar by 40 percent! Republican Bridget Thorne is challenging Ivory– and Thorne is endorsed by the outgoing Democrat chair because they oppose any hike. To stop the Democrats’ tax increase, Republican and retired IBM executive Paul Burton seeks to defeat Ivory ally Jodi Merriday in another Commission contest. The races could be close. DRIFTING….
