Atlanta City Hall investigates Atlanta City Hall

Under the watch of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Atlanta City Hall has made transparency and ethics a priority.  With that in mind, Bottoms this week ordered the investigation of a potential violation of Atlanta’s charter – by the city itself.  Shortly after Bottoms’ inauguration former City Councilman Kwanza Hall was hired as a ‘senior policy advisor,’ a cushy position making over $100,000 per year.  That move was against the city charter, which bans elected officials from holding “any compensated appointive office or employment with the city” for one year after leaving office.  Bottoms has claimed ignorance, calling the hiring a potential “administrative error,” but whether the move was made in ignorance or in violation of ethics, it has her ship DRIFTING…
