As Super Bowl LIII approaches, some consumer advocates are keeping a close eye on Airbnb hosts, suspecting them of price-gouging ahead of the big game. A report from AirbnbWATCH shows many rental properties boasting a price increase for Super Bowl weekend of 1,500% or more, with some going for over $2,500 per night beyond normal pricing. Critics call the practice, normally done by commercial operators who may or may not be allowed to rent their rooms legally, “price gouging,” and lament that they don’t have to play by the same rules as traditional hotels in the city. U.S. Justice official: Willis case ‘is disgusting’
A new undercover video from journalist Steven Louder revealed Nicholas Biase, the U.S. Justice Department’s public affairs chief, calling New York City charges brought against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump a “travesty of justice,” adding this was why Trump is surging in the polls. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg got Trump convicted for falsifying business records. But Biase says the Democrat DA “was stacking charges … just to make it fit a case. I think the case (against Trump) is nonsense.” Addressing the election case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, Biase said: “It’s a mockery of justice. She is a joke. Like, her and her boyfriend she was seeing, the whole thing is disgusting. And they’re just out to get [Trump].” SINKING…
