Gov. Brian Kemp was in Savannah over the weekend to make some big changes to the city’s convention center. Kemp signed House Bill 525, establishing the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority, renaming the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center to just the Savannah Convention Center, and giving it tax-exempt status like other convention centers in the state. The Convention Center will soon begin work on a major planned expansion project, doubling its event space and creating a new ballroom as well as adding new meeting rooms and parking spaces.
