A report last year from Warner Robins’ 13WMAZ on the repercussions of a DUI drugs charge has helped lead to a bill passing the state House unanimously. The report focused on how individuals who receive a DUI drugs, in this instance a woman who took Ambien as prescribed but still blacked out the next day while driving, are unable to get a “limited permit” from judges which allows them to drive. HB 799, sponsored by Rep. Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire), would give judges the same sentencing discretion as is available for alcohol DUI’s.
