The decision by the district attorney in Georgia’s most populous county to charge six Atlanta police officers for a rough arrest while trying to cope with a riot led Police Chief Ericka Shields to call it an uncalled-for surprise. It leads critics to say it was solely because Paul Howard fears he could lose his Democratic Party primary next week. He faces a particularly strong challenge from candidate Fani Willis. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science. As he prepares to locate in a country (a U.S. ally) bordered by Romania and Ukraine, his boat (and Georgia’s) is RISING….
