Fulton County officials, led by Chairman Robb Pitts, were honored with the “Clean 13 Water Heroes” award last week from the Georgia Water Coalition for their work in reducing the use of single-use plastics and beginning to substitute those products with sustainable alternatives. Last year the county passed a resolution against single-use plastics in government facilities, an act which evidently has not gone unnoticed. Rivers going through Fulton, most notably the Chattahoochee, have in the past gotten a reputation for being highly polluted.
