As if things in Atlanta weren’t crazy enough – residents of Vine City near downtown are currently dealing with a “pop-up” nightclub, held under a tent, that has been blasting music until 5am frequently. The tent, dubbed ‘Dome Atlanta,’ is located near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and is meant to host community events, but locals say it frequently serves as a party hotspot until well after the city’s 3am closing time. Atlanta City Councilman (and mayoral candidate) Antonio Brown says he’s working on resolving complaints from the neighborhood, but the club’s ongoing presence has residents DRIFTING (and not to sleep).
Democratic Socialists open Atlanta office
As Democratic Socialists continue to carve out a far-left foothold within the broader Democratic Party, they’re putting down roots in Georgia with the opening of a new Atlanta office. The Georgia legislature currently has one Democratic Socialist, state Rep. Gabriel Sanchez of Smyrna, but as the ultra-progressive wing of the party notches wins in states like Michigan, it’s turning its sights to the South.
