Tenured professors teach less than half the classroom instruction of college students. Too many get lazy and do little work after getting tenure. Too many use the classroom for political propaganda. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents had to initiate reform. Regents replaced a system allowing professors to be fired only for a specific cause following a review process with a new system that permits professors to be removed if they fail to take corrective steps following two subpar reviews. It also adds student success as a category to be evaluated along with teaching and research.
