A recent poll from UGA’s School of Public and International Affairs shows that former President Donald Trump’s endorsement may have a big impact in May’s GOP primary – but mainly on the down-ballot races.  While Trump-backed former U.S. Sen. David Perdue still lags behind Gov. Brian Kemp in the gubernatorial primary, other candidates down the ballot like state Sen. Burt Jones in the Lt. Gov.’s race or Patrick Witt in the Insurance Commissioner’s race saw their numbers skyrocket when poll-takers were told the candidates had been endorsed by Trump.  Of course the candidates have to actually get knowledge of the endorsements out there prior to election day, but the numbers show Trump’s influence down the ballot RISING…
