Georgia’s record fiscal year

As Fiscal Year 2022 closed out in June, Georgia boasted record revenues, collecting $2.85 billion in taxes, up 14 percent from June of 2021.  Good news for state officials an the $30.2 billion fiscal 2023 budget, which includes raises for teachers, state government employees, and a $1.1 billion tax refund.  Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was quick to weigh in on what she’d do with the budget surplus – give additional tax rebates and raises to teachers and parents.  Supporters of Gov. Brian Kemp were equally quick to point out that those ideas are nearly identical to what the current governor’s administration has been doing already.  Either way, a strong month and a big budget surplus has the state’s coffers RISING…
