Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens’ office recently announced that the city has purchased a 41-story tower from the state in downtown, which it will repurposed into mixed-income housing, creating the tallest residential tower in the state.  It would serve in the city’s efforts to revitalize downtown by offering additional housing and would help correct the problem of having underutilized commercial space in office towers, an issue made worse by COVID and the ensuing work from home movement.  The tower at 2 Peachtree St. opened in 1966 as the tallest building in the Southeast, and hopefully the city’s plan will breath new life into it and the surrounding neighborhood.  RISING…
