The day of reckoning for Georgia’s recently-redrawn congressional map is now set – on September 5th a trial will begin, presided over by U.S. District Judge Steve Jones, to hear challenges to the state’s nine Republican and five Democrat controlled districts.  Recent rulings in Alabama and Louisiana resulted in those maps being tossed and new ones being drawn to have an additional majority-black district.  If Jones does the same here in Georgia we could see a special legislative session in the fall to redraw the map – the looming trial has Georgia’s current setup DRIFTING…
