Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon spoke out Tuesday after eight Republicans voted with Democrats to stop efforts led by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. This vote ended – for now – a threat against the Cabinet secretary. Greene forced a vote through a rule that allows any single member to force a snap vote on resolutions, including constitutional matters such as impeachment.

The 209-201 vote now sends her resolution to committees for possible consideration, although they are under no obligation to do anything. That led to McKoon’s statement.
