“There are be-ers, and there are do-ers” said U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, to begin his stump speech in support of Karen Handel in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District.  “A be-er is someone who wants to be somebody.  It’s someone who parachutes into a Congressional district he doesn’t even live in to try and fool you to think that he thinks like you and shares your values.  A do-er is someone who actually lives, eats, sleeps, breathes the principles we share in.”

It doesn’t take a political scientist to figure out which of the two Congressional candidates competing in Georgia’s 6th District Ryan was referring to as the ‘be-er’ and the ‘do-er,’ as he continued the Republicans’ campaign to paint Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff as an outsider supported by liberal interests from the other side of the country.

Ryan was in town to support Handel in what has become the most expensive Congressional campaign in U.S. history, an astonishing fact that serves as a backdrop for a race that many see as a referendum on President Donald Trump.  Trump barely won the traditionally red district in November, spurring Democrats nationwide to pour money and manpower into a race that they hope will set the stage for a blue wave in 2018.

Expect to see more high profile pit-stops from both sides of the aisle as the race enters the home stretch.  The DNC announced Thursday that they were sending ten more full time staffers to the state, and new attack ads have been coming out for both sides near daily.  The latest polls have the two candidates within the margin of error of one another.
