On Monday Katrina Taylor-Parks, the deputy chief of staff to former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, was sentenced to two years in prison for her role in the bribery scandal that has engulfed City Hall. Taylor-Parks, who was found to have accepted bribes from vendors in exchange for city contracts, is the fifth member of Reed’s administration to have been sentenced. Meteorite lands in Georgia
On Thursday afternoon many Georgians noticed a blaze of light flash across the sky. It wasn’t a bird or a plane – it was a meteorite plummeting to earth. And starting on Friday a very specific breed of tourists descended on the state; meteorite hunters. Armed with rare mineral magnets, the hunters searched fields and construction sites in and around West Forest, in Henry County, searching for chunks of space rock that can be sold for more than $100 a gram.
