Discovery began Monday in the state’s voting rights lawsuit, the Fair Fight Action v. Raffensperger, and a tentative court date has been set for March 23, 2020 — the day before Georgia’s presidential primary.
Judge Steve C. Jones issued an order announcing the calendar, which includes a Tentative anticipated pretrial conference date of March 18, 2020.
The suit was filed last November by Fair Fight Action, the nonprofit arm of a voting rights organization founded by former Democrat nominee for Governor Stacey Abrams, and Care in Action, a group that organizes domestic workers in the state. The lawsuit names the state board of elections and then-interim Georgia Secretary of State Robyn Crittenden as its main defendants. However, it appears aim at current-Gov. Brian Kemp during his time as Secretary of State.
Brad Raffensperger has since been elected and sworn in as Georgia’s new Secretary of State.
The filing came shortly after Abrams officially ended her campaign last year.
