The Atlanta City Council on Monday voted to begin negotiations to purchase the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter in midtown, hoping to turn the building into a police station. The meeting was a controversial one, with many protesters present decrying the decision. Others though applauded the Council, saying that the shelter is poorly run and a blight on the neighborhood and that dispersing homeless citizens to better nearby shelters is better for all involved.
