If you want to learn ways to safeguard your personal information, head to Middle Georgia later this week.

Office staff for U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) will hold a workshop Friday at Middle Georgia State University to discuss ways to fight fraud in today’s technology-driven world.  According to officials from the Senator’s office, the workshop is designed to instruct Georgians about current scams and fraud tactics, how to prevent identity theft, and how to protect personal information.

Officials said the area was selected for the workshop because Middle Georgia had one of the highest rates of identity theft in the nation ion 2018.

“Scammers are getting smarter and more sophisticated every day, and it’s important to take precautions to safeguard your personal information,” said Senator Perdue. “My team and I are always looking for ways to assist Georgians, and we are delighted to host this workshop in Macon.”

Representatives from Attorney General Chris Carr’s office will also be on hand to talk about current scams and how to best protect yourself. Representatives from other organizations will also be on hand, including:

  • Federal Trade Commission
  • Better Business Bureau
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation

The workshop will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., in the Math Auditorium of Middle Georgia State University, 100 University Parkway, Macon, GA 31206. The event is free and open to the public. If you have any questions, please call Senator Perdue’s Atlanta office at 404-865-0087.
