Don’t expect to see many Georgia peaches at grocery stores or farmer markets this year – roughly 90% of the harvest has been wiped out by bad weather and warm temperatures.  Peach trees require a minimum number of nights below 45 degrees in order to produce fruit, but the warmest year on record in Georgia didn’t provide that for most of the state, which is devastating news for the state’s peach farmers. Growers are experimenting with ‘warmer’ varieties that require fewer chilly nights, but for this year the state’s banner crop is SINKING…
