One of the protestors behind the flag-burning protest at Valdosta State University last month has been arrested for possessing a gun on campus.  The student, Eric Sheppard, 22, led a protest where the U.S. flag and a bible were burned and trampled.  In a video, Sheppard said, “I’m a terrorist toward liars and those who are weak. So yes I am a terrorist toward white people.”

The incident gained national attention when Michelle Manhart, a military veteran, (and in an odd twist, a former playboy model) took the flag from the protestors and was eventually arrested by nearby police.  The charges were later dropped.

Soon after the protest, police found a bag belonging to Sheppard which contained a handgun.  Sheppard, who had left the scene, has had a warrant for his arrest ever since.

Hopefully this is the final chapter of this bizarre story.

New Falcons Stadium to Pay (more) Dividends?

Last week I wrote that the new Falcons stadium would likely yield a Super Bowl in the next 5 years.  Now we’re hearing that Atlanta is a frontrunner for a college football national championship game between 2018-2020.

With a brand new world-class stadium and the College Football Hall of Fame next door, expect the capital of the SEC to live up to its billing as a football mecca in coming years.

One can only hope that the new Braves ballpark might yield such economy-boosting dividends.
