Amid debating a number of resolutions and choosing delegates for the National Convention in Cleveland, the Georgia GOP voted for a new RNC committeewoman today at the state convention in Augusta.
Ginger Howard won in a runoff against Maria Zack after Linda Umberger failed to make it past the first round. The committeewoman and man, Randy Evans, who won easily, are the state’s representatives to the RNC, responsible for developing the party platform, as well as fundraising and election strategy.
Howard had received the endorsement of Johnny Isakson and the nominating committee of the state party. She takes over for Linda Herren who was term-limited after holding the position since 2004.
