After the first week of early voting – interrupted by the Independence Day holiday — 37,097 Georgians had completed advance voting ballots for the July 22d Primary Runoff Election.
In the first week of early voting for the May 20th Primary Election, 46, 376 advance voting ballots had been completed, so first week Primary Runoff turnout was about 80% of the first week Primary total, quite remarkable, given that last week had one fewer voting day due to the July 4th holiday.
If this trend continues, we may be seeing strong voter turnout for the runoff.
This isn’t entirely surprising as the July 22d election is the week before Georgia’s traditional primary election voting.
