It is widely under-reported about what happened to Senate Bill 6 by Sen. Joshua McKoon, R-Columbus, at the end of the 2015 General Assembly. The legislation sought to bar Georgia’s sizeable illegal immigrant population from obtaining driver’s licenses. What transpired is that, near the end of the session, the GOP-controlled Senate defeated a floor amendment by McKoon that would have prevented illegal aliens granted deferred status under President Barack Obama’s executive actions from getting the licenses. The vote was taken by a hand vote and not recorded on the Senate’s website. However, one is able to get the vote count by checking the video of the vote. That’s how Breitbart News originally got the story.
