The bizarre story surrounding a flag burning protest and the air force officer-turned playboy model who tried to stop it continued late last week, as thousands of supporters rallied in support of the flag. Classes were cancelled at the South Georgia college on Friday, as a crowd of over 1,000 gathered in what resembled a 4th of July parade.
A large police presence was on hand Friday, wary of any potential violence breaking out in what has been an emotionally charged week on campus. Luckily for all sides involved, we saw a peaceful show of support that came in response to a peaceful, (albeit distasteful) protest of the flag and the ‘white supremacy racism’ it supposedly, (in the minds of the original protestors) represents.
