In the six-candidate state House of Representatives District 55 special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Tyrone Brooks, D-Atlanta, the Republican stealth campaign to elect “independent” candidate John Guest fell far short. Yesterday Fulton County GOP chairman Trey Kelly sent an email to Republicans thanking them for trying to elect Guest on unfriendly city of Atlanta turf that voted in 2012 over 80 percent for President Barack Obama for in 2012. (One observer quipped that supporting Guest was “like trying to send ammunition to Col. George Custer at the battle of Little Big Horn.”)
