Who better than a respected former U.S. senator to teach college students about politics, public policy and the law? That’s why the University of Georgia has established the Saxby Chambliss Leadership Forum, designed to “provide a forum through which to share his insights and expertise on topics ranging from national security to foreign policy.” The UGA undergrad and law school alum retired from the Senate at the beginning of this year after spending 20 years in Congress. Meteorite lands in Georgia
On Thursday afternoon many Georgians noticed a blaze of light flash across the sky. It wasn’t a bird or a plane – it was a meteorite plummeting to earth. And starting on Friday a very specific breed of tourists descended on the state; meteorite hunters. Armed with rare mineral magnets, the hunters searched fields and construction sites in and around West Forest, in Henry County, searching for chunks of space rock that can be sold for more than $100 a gram.
