Current Brookhaven Mayor Rebecca Chase Williams is dropping out of the upcoming race to keep that seat, the campaign announced via press release earlier this morning.
The Mayor said she would be dropping out to help with the health of her husband, Georgia Gang host Dick Williams, who is recovering from a broken hip, as well as to fulfill her current duties as sitting mayor without having to focus on running a full time campaign.
Williams served on the Brookhaven City Council before becoming mayor when J. Max Davis gave up the seat to run for the State House of Representatives. Davis lost that race to Democrat Taylor Bennett earlier in the Summer.
