Meagan Hanson, former state chairman of the Georgia Young Republicans and an attorney with the Atlanta law firm of Boyd Collar Nolen & Tuggle, is today announcing her candidacy for the District 80 Georgia House of Representatives seat in part of DeKalb and Fulton Counties. The seat was won by liberal Democrat Taylor Bennett in a special election after the seat was vacated by now-DeKalb County State Court Judge Mike Jacobs.
Hanson is expected to face attorney Catherine Bernard in a May 2016 Republican primary. The winner of that election will face Bennett in the November 2016 general election.
In 2014 Hanson was named by James magazine as one of Georgia’s most influential attorneys and for the past two years has appeared on Fox5 WAGA-TV’s “The Georgia Gang” as a guest panelist.
