The vote for proposed cityhood for LaVista Hills in DeKalb County narrowly failed last month, and supporters of the movement didn’t seem to be ready to give up the fight. Reports of voting irregularities led to an investigation from the GBI, and when a race is as close as this one, (a mere 139 vote difference) it wouldn’t take much to reverse the result. Cityhood supporters though announced that they would be suspending campaign efforts and didn’t expect to file a lawsuit, so the possibility of an incorporated LaVista Hills is SINKING…
Proposed Fulton Co. property tax hike
Fulton County homeowners let out a collective groan Monday following the announcement that property taxes will be increasing by more than 12% over the rollback millage rate. The hike, per the over the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, is to increase funding for the 2025 General Fund. The county will host three public meetings to discuss the plan with the public before the millage rate is set, but the likely tax hike has Fulton homeowners SINKING…
